harmonious shades of blues & greens create a tranquil landscape masterfully painted in the Romantic Movement style of the late 19th century; reminiscent of the Barbizon school whose fascination with the natural world & capturing the light while painting outdoors inspired the Impressionists

oil on linen, wood chassis, painted sometime very early 1900's, signed "J. Couturier"

chassis is marked with it's maker "Sennelier, 3 quai Voltaire Paris", makers & suppliers of the finest quality paints & canvases to artists since 1887



CONDITION  great antique condition, at some point in its history the canvas has been reinforced with an added piece of linen
